“Spiral Steps” developed over time, adding something here and changing a color there. Although it began by sketching out, I had no thoughts of keeping those lines visible. But, every time I painted over a line, I found myself redrawing it onto of the paint. I didn’t want to let the grid go. Originally, there was no thought or intention for a spiral to take shape within the grid… but once it appeared, its presence began to expand within the whole. From there, the remainder of the painting developed in relationship to the spiral.

My handwritten words that barely show up on the canvas are: “The Spiral… a transpersonal pathway of wisdom, knowledge, growth, and discovery. A journey of steps towards illuminating the light within.”

The sides of the canvas are textured and painted to match the rest of the background. The signature and date appear on the side.
